The perks of the job...

So, i haven't updated for a few days, since i've been busy working - which is rather cool. I feel like, at the end of my first week, i now more or less know what i'm doing, which is always a nice feeling. The people i'm working with are cool as well. Working somewhere like a ski resort has the massive advantage that it's a lifestyle choice of sorts - every one really does want to be working there, which makes for a great atmosphere, and some really enthusiatic out-going people.

Besides working, i have also been enoying the fruits of my labour in the form of my free seasons pass. On wednesday (a day off) i went up with a couple of the other girls working on the mountain and we all tried our hand at snow boarding. Excellent fun! I've figured out the sliding down the hill forwards and backwards, and changing direction aswell, which i thought was pretty good going for one afternoon. Next i just need to figure out how to link my turns (changing from sliding on the heel edge forwards, to the toe edge backwards in an 's' shape). There are a couple of pictures, but i think i'll save that until i get some where i look a little less silly... ;)
Anywayz, it was great, but suffice to say i was in a suitable amount of pain the next day, and had a couple of beautifully purple knees from where i'd toppled over. Surprisingly though, it was actually my upper body that had been worked out the most. I guess you don't think about all the times you have to essentially do tricep dips to push yourself up off the ground when you are sat down and attached to a plank of wood! Anywayz, i'll definitely do some more of that, at least after i try skiing again - see if i can still do it after a 3 year break!

Both when i was up boarding, and when i was working, I do really wish i'd had my camera with me, especially over the weekend though - there are some stunning views of vancouver, of the mountain itself, and also of Mount Baker in Washington. On Saturday i was up there for both sunrise and sunset, both absolutely stunning. They will materialise at some point, i promise...

Today I had the day off, and i was gonna go back up and ski, but unfortunately it decided to chuck it down with rain today and so all the local mountains are closed for the day (still, better that be on my day off, than take away a day of pay!). It's supposed to have cleared up by tomorrow, so i'm hoping to go up then - hopefully it won't be too icy!
